Information about converting your foreign driver's license to a Norwegian driver's license.
Where is your license from?
If you have a driving license from an EU/EEA country, you can exchange it for a Norwegian driving license of the same class. You do not need to take tests to exchange your driving license.

Driving license from Great Britain
You can exchange your British driving license for a Norwegian driving license according to the rules that apply to driving licenses from EEA countries. This applies even if your driving license was issued after the UK left the EU.
If your license is from one of the countries below, you may exchange it for a Norwegian one.
Your driving license must be valid and you must exchange it within one year of becoming a resident of Norway. In most cases, you must pass a practical driving test.

If you have a full driver's license from a country outside the EU/EEA that is NOT listed above, you are considered a first-time driver in Norway.
You must complete the mandatory Driving in the Dark course and First Aid Course.

The first aid course is mandatory for anyone who is considered as a first-time driver. The course is about traffic accidents, where you will learn about first aid, your responsibilities, and what to do to assess the situation.
The Night Driving course is mandatory for anyone who is considered as a first-time driver. It is a combination of theory in classroom and demonstrations in the car, plus outdoors.
The instructor will do the driving.
